Introduction
We aim to provide an excellent service to all visitors and continually strive to improve. Located in the reception area of Oliver Cromwell’s House is the Ely Tourist Information Centre which provides comprehensive information on Ely and the surrounding area as well as regional and national leaflets and brochures.

- Radar toilet facilities are available in Ely at Barton Road Car Park,
Cloisters, Market Place, Newnham Street, Sacrist Gate and Ship Lane Car Park - Ely Shopmobility – A free service for anyone who finds it difficult to get about town. Shopmobility is a scheme to provide electrically powered scooters and manual wheelchairs to help people who have limited mobility – through permanent or temporary disablement, accident, illness, or pregnancy – to shop and use the other facilities in Ely. Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
- We do not have parking facilities at Oliver Cromwell’s House
- The nearest free council car park is 250 metres at St Mary’s Street, Ely. The route from the car park is along a pavement which is smooth, flat and level.
Main Entrance, Reception and Rooms
- The entrance to Oliver Cromwell’s House is at ground level.
- There is wheelchair access to the Tourist Information Centre and into Room 1 (The Parlour), through to the Room 2 (The Kitchen). There is a ramp to re-gain access to the main reception area.
- Access to the upper floor is dependent on stairs only, with grab rails. We are able to offer an audio guide and book for those unable to reach the second floor.
- We offer free entry for carers.
- Some areas are darker than others, with uneven floorboards and smaller doorways (as is typical in period properties), so extra care will need to be taken.
- In room 3 (Mrs Cromwell’s Room) and Room 5 (The Study) there are moving mannequins to be aware of.
- In room 1 (Parlour) and Room 4 (Civil War Room) there are audio visuals.
- In room 6 (Haunted Bedroom) a mannequin and short audio clip.
Public Areas
- Apart from the Parlour, the 1st room in the attraction, all other areas are not accessible to wheelchair users, entrance to rooms are via stairs.
- Written audio commentary available on request
- A large print copy of the Oliver Cromwell’s House guide is available on request (coming soon in different languages also)
- Seating in all rooms of the attraction

Shop
- Wheelchair access to the shop, which is in the Tourist Information Centre.
Additional Information
- Services dogs are welcome to the attraction
- All dogs are allowed into the Tourist Information Centre, but not the attraction.
- There is no background music or tannoy other than the introductory video in the parlour
